We received an inquiry from Tom at HoCo Rising www.hocorising.blogspot.com where he asked us to address our approach to land use issues.The following is our response: Our present leaders are unaware that we have entered a new economic era, one much different than the previous economic cycles of just 10 years ago.
The issue of planning and zoning is directly tied to our quality of life and economic prosperity. It is an issue I regarded as one of the most important and serious duties I performed as a Council member from 1995-1998. I listened to testimony carefully and followed the principle set out in law that it was the burden of the petitioner to prove change or mistake. I voted for some petitions and I voted against others but always based on the evidence in each individual case. Finally, it is of utmost importance that the appropriate process always be followed and that all participants, regardless of the outcome, feel that their views were heard and considered. I worked hard to make sure that these goals were always accomplished and will do so again if honored by the voters to serve in November.
