Online college education and life long education through online learning is already becoming a national trend.
Our children must be prepared to compete in this environment not only nationally, but internationally.
Many of our children will be taking courses fully online, supplemented online, or seeking complete degrees online.
They must be prepared for this and our schools must be able to operate in this environment or we will be left behind.
The Board of Education's 2011 Operating Budget Review Committee made several observations and recommendations that deal with innovation in education.
Here are six key recommendations that I embrace to implement this notion of innovation in education.
1. Promote and implement virtual and distance learning 2. Provide internet based professional development 3. Improve technology and technology infrastructure 4. Adopt six sigma process improvement as a core competency for staff and measure objective outcomes 5. Encourage volunteer programs to provide services 6. Implement communications technologies to engage parents
